Fab fundraiser for cabaret
THE CÁCA Milis Cabaret will kick off for 2012 this month with a “fab fundraiser” event on Friday, 17 February.
Some very special guests (to be confirmed this week) as well as some of the Cabaret’s favourite acts will perform, and there’ll be a raffle and prize for best retro costume. Fundraisers are popular on the agenda these days, but Helena Mulkerns, Director of the Cáca Milis, explains it’s for a good cause.
“While we are lucky enough to receive an Arts Council Grant, and have generous inkind support from the Wexford Arts Centre,” explains Helena Mulkerns, Director, “funding is still a crucial issue for the Cabaret. The most important reason for starting with a fundraiser this year is to bring in funds so that each act can receive a performer’s fee for participating in the Cabaret throughout 2012.”
“It’s the extraordinary talent and creativity of Wexford artists that has so far driven the Cabaret, and since participation has been on a volunteer basis so far, I wanted to develop the structure of the cabaret to allow for payment of artists. There’s also a brand new volunteer Cáca Milis team to keep the admin end rolling smoothly.”
Whether you bring your sweetheart for a Valentine’s date (the 14th is the previous Tuesday) or just come along to support the cabaret, it’s sure to be a great night out, and all at the suggested donation of €20 for the evening.
