Autism unit for local school
THE BOARD of Management of Scoil Mhaodhóig, Poulfur, FethardonSea, is currently applying to the NCSE (National Council for Special Education) for the sanction of an Autism Unit which it plans to open in September.
A spokesperson for the school told the New Ross Echo that an opportunity exists for parents whose child has been diagnosed as being on the Autism Spectrum to apply for enrolment in the new unit for September 2010, 2011 or 2012, depending on the child’s age.
“There will be a maximum of six places in the unit and applications are being initially invited from the catchment area of South West Wexford,” said the school spokesperson. For more information parents are asked to contact the school as soon as possible on 051-397193.
Alternatively, parents can contact dominicodd@gmail.com Enrolment forms for prospective Junior Infants in Scoil Mhaodhóig for September 2010 are available from the school at the moment.
Completed forms must be returned to the school by April 10, to facilitate planning for the new school year.
